Welcome to the first day of tutorials for The Party Hop: Autumn Market! I just love the idea of gathering with your family and friends on a late summer evening to taste the bounty of the garden, delicious home-baked goods, and to play fun games. Today, I'm going to share with you a little DIY Bean Bag Toss. Be sure to read to the end of the post for today's other great projects!
Three pie tins and three homemade bean bags are all you need for a game the whole family can enjoy together. You can even pack them up cute and send a set home with each of your guests as a party favor.
To make the bean bags you will need fabric in assorted colors, scissors, rice or beans, and a sewing machine.
Step 1: Cut two squares of fabric for each bean bag. I cut mine 5 in x 5 in. Step 2: Match up your squares right sides out and sew a zigzag stitch around all four sides leaving a small space to fill with rice. Step 3: Fill about half way with rice and then sew up the opening. I cut around the edges of mine with pinking shears.
If you have a Silhouette or other cutting machine, you can add decorative paper and numbers to your pie tins, simply adhering them with glue dots or double sided tape.
A bean bag toss is a festive and classic game--add the pie tins and I think it goes with the market theme perfectly! Hope you give em' a try!
Continuing on with our lovely theme, Kimberly from A Night Owl is showing us how to make these darling Cork Cupcake Flags. Head over to her blog for all the details!
